About Dr. Amanda Lloyd
Educator for Outdoor Learning
Amanda is a dedicated educator, advocating for getting outside to foster play and learning in natural environments.
Adventurer & Explorer
As an adventurer, she inspires others to explore and find joy in the thrill and challenge of the great outdoors.
Advocate for Nature Connection
She champions deeper connections with nature, believing it's essential for well-being and a sense of belonging.
Amanda has extensive experience in outdoor and place-based education, her work has been recognised nationally and internationally for strengthening connections between people, overall wellbeing, learning, and the natural world.
She has worked across teaching, research, consultancy, professional development facilitation, leadership, and advocacy. Her PhD explored the benefits of outdoor learning for primary school students, and she continues to publish and present widely—sharing evidence, strategies, and stories that help educators, families, and communities bring learning to life outside. She works with early learning centres, schools, families and community groups to empower them to get outside more often.
Inclusion is at the heart of Amanda’s approach to the outdoors. She works to ensure outdoor experiences are accessible to people of various abilities, genders, backgrounds, and cultures, recognising the importance of place and honouring the knowledge of First Nations People.
Outside of "work" hours, Amanda is an avid bushwalker, bikepacker, sandcastle builder, and picnic lover. Most of the time you will find her planning, packing or dreaming up her next multi-day adventure to complete with her 5 year old and partner. She is based on Dharawal Country, on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia, a place she is deeply connected to.
She clearly loves speaking, writing and educating about the outdoors, so make contact to find out more about how you might be able to connect and work together to achieve your goals.
